I rode 70 km today. I pedalled all day long. It was nothing but mountain roads, so I couldn't cover the distance I'd hoped for. It was a bit tough, but the rice fields were so lovely that they lifted my spirits a little. I wanted to ride as far as Onomichi, but I was tired, and there was nowhere to camp along the way either. I pitched my tent at eight and ended up sleeping for 11 hours. Sometimes you need a rest like this.
